Bed and Breakfast in Morges
This charming town of approximately 15,000 inhabitants is situated in the canton of Vaud on the north shore of Lake Geneva, and belongs to the wine region of La Côte which stretches from Geneva to Lausanne. Thanks to the diversity of soil structure and its micro-climate, a wide variety of wines are produced here that excite wine experts. Morges is not just a city of wine, but also a city of flowers. In the spring, the Tulip Festival is held in the beautiful Parc de l'Indépendance, located on the lake. With views of Mont Blanc, this special place features daffodils, hyacinths, and more than 100,000 blooming tulips, and attracts numerous enthusiastic visitors each year. Nearby, the wonderful floral splendour of the castle gardens in Vullierens enchants flower lovers with its hundreds of irises and lilies. In addition, the lakeside of Morges, a great place to stroll and relax, is decorated with thousands of blooming dahlias in the autumn. Other attractions include the beautiful old town with its alleys and tightly-packed bourgeois and patrician houses from the 15th and 18th centuries. The "Temple" (the Protestant church of Morges), whose construction began in the baroque period and finished in the classical period, is one of the most important monuments of its kind in Switzerland. Located on the lakeshore is an imposing castle with round corner towers, built by Louis of Savoy in the 13th century. The fortress took its present shape in the 16th century and was the residence of the Bernese bailiffs until the 18th century. Today, the castle houses four museums. The picturesque port was built in the 17th century. In the past, Morges was an important trading post, and now serves as a marina for small boats. Cruises on Lake Geneva are popular with tourists. The region also offers plenty of entertainment so that every stay will be unforgettable. The range of hotels, bed & breakfasts, apartments, rooms and private accommodation, some with stunning views, leaves nothing to be desired.
