In August of 2024 we stayed four nights with Anita and Robert and their Jack Russel Terrier Ellie. They are wonderful people who made our stay very nice, exceeding our expectations. My wife enjoys chatting and Anita spent significant time with her talking about her life in Switzerland. Robert has a great sense of humor.
Their home is everything we expected from a 500 year old farmhouse. We stayed in room 4 with ensuite facilities. One thing that we liked very much is that the shower is completely enclosed. This means you can take a warm shower without the discomfort of cold air chilling you the moment you turn off the water. Also, they added the facilities to the outside of the outside wall of the bedroom thereby not using any of the space in the room itself. Someone remarked that the ceilings are low, but that is typical in many old houses. I am 5'9" and had no issues whatsoever. We loved that it is a farm with cows and horses and all of the accompanying characteristics of a rural setting. The smells of freshly plowed fields and farm animals greeted us every day. We also live on a small farm with chickens and dogs, and this made us feel very much at home. The views from their house are an embarrassment of riches!
My wife spent many pleasurable moments with their dog Ellie, who is very sweet and helped us with missing our own dogs. Just be careful, as she will clean your ears for you :-)
The house is a five minute walk from the train station and Grindelwald is only another 15 minutes away by train, making this location absolutely perfect for those wishing to go to Junfrau, Schilthorn, and any of the other attractions near Interlaken.
Anita showed us great hospitality during our stay, and helped us get to our car rental location for our continuing trip to Bavaria. We cannot thank her and Robert enough. Our time in Switzerland was fantastic in every way, thanks in great part to them.
