I stayed at Frau Niederer's lovely guesthouse in September 2023, during the last moments of summer. It was a wonderful experience - placed in a quiet town, close to the train station with great links to both St Gallen and Appenzell, it really helped me make the most of my visit to this beautiful area of Switzerland.
The accommodation was perfectly clean and comfortable, and there was a beautiful and relaxing view from the window - it was just what I needed at a time when I was feeling quite exhausted from my previous travels!
But the highlight really was Frau Niederer herself - a welcoming and kind woman, who really left an impression on me. The breakfast she prepares is legendary (delicious local meats and cheeses, fresh bread, cereals, fruit, different juices, eggs in hats (!) and probably other wonderful things I'm forgetting) and it was a highlight of my day to chat with her - often through Google Translate (although her English is better than my German!) - over breakfast. She also took the time to show me her weaving space and the loom at work - it is very impressive and it's wonderful that she is keeping that tradition going.
I would not hesitate to go back - Vielen Dank, Frau Niederer, für den herzlichen Empfang und den wundervollen Aufenthalt!
