Are you familiar with the Emmental? Its 170 valleys and rolling hills make it a cyclist's heaven. You'll ride along unpaved paths along the Emme river from Trubschachen to Burgdorf (route 24), discover the region's typical imposing farmhouses with their huge, hipped roofs, and marvel at the carpentry of covered wooden bridges. You don't have to be particularly fit to handle the 29 km route. Maximizing the fun factor is what counts. Other highlights along the route include the Kambly Swiss cookie factory in Trubschachen, where the air is filled with the scent of baking, and the impressive castle that sits high above the small town of Burgdorf.
