22. Soak up the sun near Lugano
Cà San Matteo is a relaxed, modern bed & breakfast in the small Ticino village of Cagiallo, in the delightful region of Capriasca. The house is on a hill with an unobstructed view of the landscape, and although it's amid mountains, fields and vineyards, it's just a few minutes from the centre of Lugano. 🍇🍷😎 Right next door is the family-run San Matteo winery, which has been growing its own grapes and producing its own wine since the 1970s.
The total 8 rooms – including 3 junior suites and 1 full suite – of the Cà San Matteo guest house are light, contemporary, comfortable and decorated with great attention to detail. 🛌🤩👌 They are named after the vineyards of the Azienda San Matteo (Robbiano, Colle dei Lupi, and Ronco della Piana) and mountain peaks (Gazzirola, Camoghè, Monte Bar, Denti della Vecchia, and Cavaldrossa) that surround Cagiallo.
So what about a visit to the sunny side of Switzerland, especially now the days are so cold and gray? ☀️🌴
Today's prize:
🎁 One night away for two at the Cà San Matteo B&B.*
The host's condition is that the voucher can only be redeemed during the week. But if your preferred type of jam is on your delicious 4* breakfast, it's probably a better idea anyway...

21. Small, refined – and well designed!
B&B Chesa Staila is the ideal choice for guests who don't want to just stay in the Engadine, but want to feel at home. Neglected and unloved just ten years ago, it has become a real gem of a place. Back then the old building was a simple guest house, with 15 rooms and with bathrooms serving each floor.
It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a personal dream come true. From start to opening its doors once more the whole, carefully planned Chesa Staila renovation project took a little over four months, restoring the warmth and authentic feel of the typical wooden construction.🪵🫎⚒️
Each quiet room has a unique mix of furniture and decoration and is the perfect retreat after an active day in the mountains. The communal areas, the local pine-panelled lounge and garden, are inviting hangouts where it's easy to fall into conversation with other guests. 🛋️🪴
Thanks to its central location in La Punt-Chamues-ch, Chesa Staila is a wonderful base for hiking, cycle tours, and days spent cross-country or downhill skiing. 🥾🚴♀️⛷️
Here, the personal touch makes every stay extra special. Host Evelyn takes time for her guests, is happy to divulge her valuable insider knowledge of the area, and creates an atmosphere that instantly makes you feel welcome. The generous breakfast, with regional and home-made products, gets every day off to a great start. 🧀🥐☕🍳
Exactly what you're looking for? Then today's your chance to win a voucher for CHF 150 to spend at B&B Chesa Staila. 🤩
Just join our Telegram channel and comment on today's post. In addition to the great prizes to be won, the channel is a fantastic way of keeping up with all the exciting things going on at BnB Switzerland.

17. Backed by a strong partner
Where legal matters are concerned we can quickly get out of our depth. We don't have any time anyway, and depending on the issue we might not know enough about the legal situation. 😬😫
To allow our hosts to concentrate on other things, two years ago we formed a partnership with Protekta, which offers our members tailor-made legal expenses insurance. Conventional insurance policies often cover far too much. With Protekta, you only pay for what you really need. Its insurance covers:
- Legal information
- Contract law
- Debt collection
- Data protection law
- Labor law
- and more...
Protekta is also behind today's Advent Calendar prize 🎄
🎒 A quality backpack for the office or for your free time
☂️ Plus an umbrella that has you covered especially in the cold, wet months of the year
But... that's not all. Tucked in the backpack is a surprise for you! 🤩🎁
If you like surprises and/or backpacks, simply comment on today's post on Telegram, and perhaps you’ll soom be getting a message from us. 💬👨💻
16. A world of animal encounters
This B&B is different. Even more unique. It isn't just a place to stay, it's an experience! The accommodation was renovated in 2025 so that you can now stay in the former cowshed. But that's not all. The farm is home to many animals, both large and small. There are cows with their calves 🐄, an easy-going bull, tame sheep, tousle-headed llamas and alpacas 🦙, curious rabbits, miniature pigs, hens, and cuddly cats 🐈. And let's not forget Tilda, the friendly farm dog (a traditional Berner Sennenhund), who's always happy to see new faces. When the hosts have time guests, are even welcome to help around the yard, feeding the animals or collecting eggs for breakfast, for example.
It will come as no surprise that today's prize is one for animal-lovers. Maybe it's something that's long been on your bucket list. 📝
🎁 Alpaca trekking for two, with two alpacas, including afternoon refreshments (3.5 hours including preparation time). 🦙
Olga, Zorro, Paul, Leo, Johnny, Gustav, and Lotta would love you to take part in the draw. They're the ones you could soon be taking for a walk!

If luck isn't on your side this time but you've been dreaming of doing something like this for a while, it could be the perfect Christmas present for your nieces, nephews, or godchildren. Contact the host family directly to buy the voucher! 🎁

12. Stay overnight in a tiny house in the Lower Emmental
If you visit our website from time to time you're probably familiar with these photos. We were lucky enough to stage one of our photo shoots in this enchanting accommodation, to capture the B&B life in pictures. 📸
Nestled in a harmonious group of buildings in an Emmental hamlet, surrounded by fruit trees in the middle of a meadow, the ‘Weidschürli’ is one of two guest houses around 50 meters away from the farmhouse. 🏡 Having converted the former oven house into guest accommodation in 2016, Andreas and Rahel then also transformed the small former cowshed into a cosy tiny guest house, which they opened in 2021. 🐮🐄 The ‘Weidschürli’ sleeps two, and has its own small bathroom with a shower and toilet. The facilities include outdoor seating and a small barbecue.🍗 Your freshly prepared breakfast with products from the farm is brought directly to your door. 🥐☕️🧀
In addition to running their B&B since 2010, the hosts specialize in rearing and keeping beef cattle. Their quality meat is sold under the ‘Swiss-Premium-Weide-Rind’ label. What's more, the farm has a small herd of Scottish Highland cattle that are a delight for both the family and guests and are kept more for pleasure than as a source of income.
But the best thing is...
Today we’re offering an overnight stay in the ‘Weidschürli’ for two people, worth CHF 200. 🤩😮🥳

The family atmosphere is the first thing you notice about this idyllic little farm. Everywhere there's something for children to discover. You can either stay in the prettily decorated guest room, or bed down in the straw in one of two barn rooms.

Interested? Then follow our Telegram channel and write a note or just leave a donkey icon in the comments. With a little luck you’ll soon be visiting the Eselhof Säge in person. And if you want to extend your break, combine your donkey day with an overnight stay!

By planting flowered areas, it helps to preserve and encourage the variety and populations of wild and honey bees. https://bnb.ch/beeandbee/ ]
In 2024 BnB Switzerland decided to support bee-friendly zones instead of planting trees. We have been in touch with BienenSchweiz ever since.

Admire the cableways as they travel up and down the mountains, the ships carving their way through the lakes, and the cars racing by on the highway. Swissminiatur is Switzerland’s largest open-air miniatures museum. The park is at Melide on the shores of Lake Lugano, surrounded by an impressive mountain panorama that takes in the Monte Generoso, Monte San Salvatore and Monte San Giorgio.
